Why does Derry’s mother not want him to go back to visit Mr. Lamb ?

Derry's mother don't want him to go back to Mr.lamb because Derry was a burnt face boy he was not good looking. People usually get afraid to look at him but his mother loves him and don't want to hurt him. so she doesn't want Derry interact with the world outside she was worried about his son. so she doesn't allow Derry to go back to Mr. lamb. But Derry don't pay attention towards his mother as he want to live a normal life so he decided to go back to Mr. lamb
