Insulin cannot be taken through mouth because it is digestible. Oral insulin would be obliterated (destroyed)long before it reaches bloodstream...once injected, it starts to work and is used up in a matter of hours

To treat harmful effects of increased level of blood sugar , the diabetic patients are treated by giving injections of insulin .
