why does dry hcl gas does not change the colour of the dry litmus paper?​

Answer:

Dry HCL it does not dissociate to give H+ ions. Acids dissociate to give ions only in the aqueous solution. In this HCL is not in aqueous form nor litmus paper is wet, so the colour of litmus paper does not change.

bcoz HCL gas have some water when it reacts with Litmus Paper it changes its colour if it is dry means there is no water so it will not be able to react with Litmus Paper and hence it doesn't change the colour of Litmus Paper
