Dry HCL gas does not contain any hydrogen ion in it so it does not show acidic behaviour in fact dry HCL gas not change the colour of dry Litmus Paper is it has no hydrogen ion in it

First of all an acid behaves as an acid only in the presence of water...Since dry Hcl do not have any water molecules,it cannot release it's ions or we can say there are no ions in it.So due to the absence of ions it is almost neutral so it doesn't change the colour of the litmus paper....Hope this would help......
