Private Quelch was an extremely intelligent man. He has the knowledge of almost everything in the world. That is why he was nicknamed as professor also. But he was a little proud about his intelligence. He always used to outshone himself in front of others.
All other soldiers were always proud on their ability to recognize the jets just by a look only. But Private Quelch identified it by just it's sound and made all inferior again.
That is why everyone disliked Private Quelch.
