Answer:

Due to increasing population, unjust market intervention, poor governance, medium and small farmers are losing their productive land and becoming landless gradually. Moreover, climate induced hazards, such as recurring floods, cyclones, riverbank erosion are also contributing to the increasing landlessness.

Most of the labourers are seasonally employed on farms. It is because agriculture ( farming) requires a large number of hands to work on the fields. Various crops are grown according to the season. There are the processes of tilling the land, sowing the seed watering the plants and threshing and harvesting of crops. Farmers or land owners employ these labourers to do the work and pay them wages.

However when the harvesting period of crops is over, these labourers find themselves unemployed.

This process of being employed seasonally is also known as seasonal employment. Seasonal employment is mostly seen in rural areas.
