why does food appear relatively tasteless when one has cold or running nose?

This is so because when we eat something our gustory receptors send signals to brain and the signals from both olfactory and gustory receptors combinely gives us the taste. When we are suffring from cold our olfactory indicators cant work properly. hope it help
