Why does Gandhi say “I know full well that the British will have to give us our freedom when we have made sufficient sacrifices and proven our strength”? Why do you think he put the burden on Indians to prove that they “deserve” freedom?

Indians were very naive that time and were very gullible...Gandhi just pretended to be a hero ...in actuality Britishers were about to leave India because of the pressure due to second world war but yeah Gandhi motivated people to think that the country is theirs and they deserve freedom... Indians were always ruled by someone or other..let it be Hindu rulers,or mughals they had a mindset that they were meant to be ruled.

just my opinion.. please don't come at me for not supporting Gandhi as he was not a leader but a fraud(according to the real history)

Here's your answer:
I don't know the answer of the first part but I know the answer of the second part:
That is Gandhi put the burden on Indians to prove that the "deserve" freedom as the bcause the Indians were to careless that time and they wasn't knowing about the importance of freedom and they were working under the British government and unfollowing the rubbish rules. One thing is that Gandhi doesn't want to make India free by fighting, instead of that there were many people who wanted to make India free by fighting as because fighting would make the India free as soon as possible. So, he and the people who wanted to make India free by fighting make two parties one was garam dal and another was naram dal.
