Why does glycerol diffuse across the cell membrane faster than glucose?

cell membrane is a lipid bilayer.

Glycerol is lipid soluble so it diffuses by simple diffusion directly through membrane.

Whereas, glucose is polar in nature so it diffuses via a channel protein.

This means that the surface area for the entry of glucose is less.

glycerol is lipid soluble(nonpolar) so diffuses simply. Glucose is polar so require a channel.
