Goa receives heavier rainfall than Puducherry because it first receives the monsoon rains from the “moisture laden” ‘South-West Monsoon’ winds.
Later when the monsoons reverse, it again receives rainfall from the moisture laden North-East Monsoon winds as it is on the ‘windward side’ of the “Western Ghats”.
Puducherry on the other hand does not receive rainfall from either of the monsoon winds. Further it is on the ‘leeward side’ of the Eastern Ghats which makes it ever drier.
