It's not needed. But it is required. Women can very well remain Standing and travel. They do not need a seat but they require a separate coach as men tend to make them uncomfortable staring, touching, or passing comments.
In education, they require a reservation to promote girl education. It's not really needed because their survival doesn't depend on reservations. It's required because the treatment they get needs to be changed. But the sad reality is when reservations become necessary and do not seem to stick to their main aim of being a temporary solution for an issue rather become a permanent practice of all times

Yes It is true that women in India are less educated , skillful and employed.But truth behind this is that most of the women here are housewives and either dont want to work or are not allowed to do so. So , due to such country scenerios Government of India is promoting woman employment. To take woman employability at the level of men , Govt is providing woman reservation and I think in the current scenerio it is right to some extent.
As we have seen govt had made provisions that all Central Armed Police Forces must recruit at least 33% of women of their total fresh recruitment and had also relaxed some physical criteria for them . As , woman generally have less physical strength than there male counterparts , such steps taken by govt should be well encouraged and supported.
Also, research have shown that women have better mutitasking and emotional intelligence capabilities and hence they are well suited for managerial and hospitality roles. So, Govt along with providing reservation should make sure to utilize their capabilities to max and creating more opportunities for them. Also,generally man have more physical strength,So they must be preferred in jobs demanding muscle power like tough combat roles.But it doesn’t mean we should completely abstain one gender from applying to some kind of jobs, if somebody has got what is needed for the job,let them taste the waters and decide themselves.
So ,finally i want to conclude that due to less woman involvement in govt jobs ,By providing woman reservation , Govt is doing the right thing. But after some time when women significantly become man’s equal half in job market also, such type of reservation must be stopped and jobs must be given on the basis of an individual skills,capabilities and merit , not because someone is women.
