Why does hallock want the ghost to disappear before his wife appear on the seen ?

John Hallock’s wife Lavinia was a very sensitive woman . She could not bear the sight of a mouse . John did not want his wife to see Helen as he thought she would create trouble for him. Lavinia was subject to hysterics . John thought that if Lavinia saw Helen, the ghost, she might start laughing or crying loudly. Moreover he was afraid of having more misunderstandings between them. That’s why hallock wanted the ghost to disappear before his wife Lavinia appears on the scene.
