Why does helium have 0 valency

The valency of noble gases is zero because their octet is complete. Octet means that outer most orbit has complete eight electrons to stay stable. ... The noble gases are already stable, so their tendency to gain or lose electrons is zero. Hence, their valency is also zero. The helium atom has only the 1s orbital in its only shell, and it is completely filled with 2 electrons. Its electronic configuration is 1s2.

Hope this helps...

helium has its outermost shell with 0 valence it's outermost shell is complete so it need more electrons
