Why does homolytic fission occurs in wurtz reaction

The reason is the electronegativity difference between Carbon and Halogens. However the mechanism of the whole reaction might seem like there is homolytic cleavage- e.g. Wurtz reaction- but its not. ... Hence C—C, Br—Br, Cl—Cl bonds undergo homolytic clevage while C—Br, C—Cl, C—H, O—H bonds undergo heterolytic cleavage.
