why does hydrochloric acid turns blue litmus to red ?​

Dry HCL gas is not an acid because it does not produce H+ ions can't turn blue litmus to red litmus. Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution so it can produce H + ions hence it can turn blue litmus to red litmus.
