Why does hydrogen chloride dissolve in water?

it is polar and make H bond with water

H2O is a polar molecule. HCl when added to water is covered by the polar H2O molecules. And due to the interaction, H bonded with Cl (H-Cl) dissosciates to form H+ and Cl- ions. And hence gets dissolved in water!
