Explanation:
because of the presence of a large element on the second carbon the compound becomes less stable to gain stability it converts or transfers the electron from oxygen as it has a lone pair when this happens second no. carbon becomes 5 bonded which is not possible to make this compound stable the extra electron transfers to the second carbon as the transfer of oxygen is not possible. that is why the hydrogen gets transferred to the second carbon from the OH .
