Why does hydrogen occurs in a diatomic form rather than a monoatomic form under normal condition?

Because in monoatomic form it is very much reactive it can combine with any element as only 1 electron is needed to complete the octet
On the other hand diatomic form has complete octet therefore more is the stability

Hydrogen atom has only one electron in its valence shell. So, to achieve the stable noble gas configuration of helium, it requires only one electron. For this it shares its one electron with another hydrogen atom to form a stable diatomic molecule.
