➡️ Hydrogen reacts with chlorine simply due to the fact that due to this reaction, hydrogen as well as chlorine will be able to attain the stable electronic configuration of the nearest noble gas.

➡️ Hydrogen reacts with chlorine to form hydrogen chloride ( a polar compoumd ). In case of hydrogen chloride molecule, hydrogen atom shares an electron pair with chlorine atom such that hydrogen acquires a duplet configuration and chlorine an octet, resulting in the formation of a single covalent bond.
