Why does ice cream appear cooler to the teeth than ice cold water?

As ice has more latent heat, it will take more heat from teeth and makes it feel colder as compare to ice cold water which is already in water form i.e. melted.

Explanation:

Since, ice cream has more latent heat so it will absorb more heat from teeth.

Overall it makes teeth feel colder than ice cold water. In case of ice water, water is already in liquid state so ice is already melted therefore it will absorb less heat.
