Why does ice float above liquid water?Is the phenomenon true for all substances?How does this phenomenon support life on earth?

density of ice is lesser than density of water, as a result ice floats on water

Ice floats on water because of its surface,buoyancy and also its density is equal to tht of water..... It is not true for all the substances..... This phenomenon support.life om earth as u can say a boat there works buoyancy..
