why does ice float on water

ice floats because it is less dense than liquid water . Ice is about 9% less dense.plz mark as best

Ice floats on Water in term of Density. Anything that is less Denser than Water can Float on it and Anything that is more Denser than Water will in it. And Ice is less Dense than Water............
