Why does ice have cooling effect and steam ha burning effects

rayan85: 2)water molecules have high energy in ice and low energy in steam
rayan85: 3)Both have same molecular energy but ice take energy from body to have a cooling effect
rayan85: 4)None of these
prince2266: no b.
prince2266: sorry no.2
prince2266: mark me brainliest
rayan85: No 2) is completely wrong

When water as ice melts it absorbs a certain amount of heat from the surface (skin) in contact and thus produces a cooling effect on the surface.....

Whereas when water as steam touches the skin, it condenses on the skin, and releases the latent heat of vaporization [ the heat which the boiling water absorb to get converted to vapour (steam)]......

Therefore, it may cause severe burns......
