India has a large variety of forests because----

1. India lies in the tropical region as the tropic of cancer passes through it. Therfore the climate is highly suitable for the growth of forests.

2. The soil is very fertile and is suitable for the growth of different types of crops.

3. India has different types of climatic conditions at different places and according to that different types of vegetation is found here. For eg. at Himalayas we have coniferous trees, at the gangetic plains we have rainforests, etc..

4. The temperature and moisture is also sufficient for the growth of plants.

5. The annual rainfall is adequate for the growth of forests.

Hope it Helps:)
