why does India oppose imperialism
Answers
Many Indians oppose imperialism not just because what they have heard about it’s effects, but because they themselves were also under imperialism in history.
As many are aware, modern day India (and a good additional portion of the Indian subcontinent) have been under imperial rule a good chunk of their history. Under said imperial rule, several times, Indians were treated as second-class citizens within their own country.
This only ended recently, when the modern states of India and Pakistan gained independence from the UK in 1947, and when the other colonial outposts in India were given to India due to decolonization efforts in the Cold War.
As such, the experience left a bad taste in their mouth, and they don’t want anyone to go through that again.
