India possesses a great variety of flora due to :
(a) Varied relief of mountains, plains, plateaus, deserts. They all have their own different types of flora.
(b) Different types of terrain and soils-like alluvial, black, red, laterite-support different types ‘of vegetation and crops.
(c) India stands tenth in the world and fourth in Asia in plant diversity. 47,000 species of plants have been described by the Botanical Survey of India.

There are a number of geographical reasons why India has a Diverse Flora : -
A) It's Diverse Climate ranging from Tropical Jungle to the That Desert to the Himalayas & Hindu Khush - this means that plants have a wide Range of Climate to adjust to.
B) There's also a range of Flora Zones on the Himalayas as you ascend the mountains.
C) There are seperate Floral areas on Offshore- Island.
D) The Diverse range of EcoRegions encourage Floral Diversity.
