The land of India is very diverse in respect to its physical features. In the extreme North, there are the mighty Himalayas. From the Himalayas flows the rivers like the Ganga, the Brahmaputra and the Indus. The great plain of India is formed by these rivers. There is the great Indian plateau that extends towards the south to encompass the whole of Peninsula. On the edge of this plateau there exists the mountain ranges , the Western and the Eastern Ghats. Between these mountains and the sea lies the coastal plains.
