Fountain pens or toothpastes brought to higher altitudes from lower altitude regions contain airat high pressure (equal to that of the low altituderegion it is brought from). Due to this difference in air pressure, the air inside the pen forces theink to come out.

In high altitudes the pressure is very less as compared to the pressure inside the pen and due to this reason, the fountain pens start leaking .
