why does iron also react but but it also has 8 electrons in its outer shell?​

u r wrong!! Iron has no eight electrons in its outer shell. see below the configuration

Fe : 26 : 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d6

Iron outer shell is 4...and contains 2 electrons only.

now it reacts because of availability of p & d orbitals
