why does iron is not used for storing food?

Food should not be stored in iron cans because iron reacts with air and moisture and get rusted which will spoil the food soon... Because iron can will rusted in the moisture but the steel not. Effect of electric current? Tin cans are used inspite of iron cans because the iron cans are rusted and make the food spoil.

iron is not used as food storing material as it is a oxidising material and may react with envi. oxygen that result in rusting of food and if we eat that then that may be harmfuo also
