Why does it happen?
1. If a pot having a plant is kept in the dark, the plant languishes.
2. On increasing the volume of a music system or TV beyond a limit, the vessels
house start vibrating.
3. Collecting sunlight on a paper with the help of a convex lens burns the
paper.

Answer:

  1. The plants languish due to lack of photosynthesis.
  2. The objects vibrate due to production of sound waves.
  3. The paper burns due to. concentration of light which produces heat energy.

Explanation:

  • 1) If the pot is left in the room, the stomata will not fully open, the water loss rate will be very low, the polyethylene bag will have no water vapor, it will be very low, and the resulting transpiration will be low.
  • This happens because plants need light for photosynthesis.
  • Without light, plants begin to wither and eventually die from lack of food and nutrients.
  • If left for too long, the leaves will eventually dry up and fall off the plant.
  • 2) Sound waves are produced when a vibrating object causes the surrounding medium to vibrate. As the volume increases, the vibration also increases, causing the container to vibrate.
  • 3) A convex lens focuses light energy to a single point on the paper, so heat energy is concentrated to that small point on the paper. As the heat increases, burns occur when the spot becomes too hot and the paper burns.
