why does it happens ? fruits can easily be cut with a sharp knife.

Fruits can easily cuted from sharp knife as compare to blunt knife becouse a sharp knife had a thin edge means it as a small point of contact on the surface of the fruit and hence it exert a less friction and we get easiy to cut a fruit

Fruits can easily be cut with sharp knife because blunt knife has thicker edges and its harder to cut even if force is applied.

Another may be due to area under contact which is smaller in case of sharp knife.
