Why does it rain so much in mawsynram though it doesn't exist in the tropical region?
If it is due to the Northeastern winds then they have to produce water to the state of Tamil Nadu then why do they rain alot in mawsynram ??

Answer:

Three reasons can be cited for high rainfall at Mawsynram: The warm moist winds of the northward-moving air from the Bay of Bengal during the monsoon, which cover an extensive area but are forced to converge into the narrower zone over the Khasi Hills, thus concentrating their moisture.

They blow from land to sea and hence, for most part of the country, it is a dry season. However, the Tamil Nadu Coast receives winter rainfall due to these winds. This is because in this region these winds blow from sea to land, thereby carrying moisture along with them.
