I have a double trunk black walnut tree. I can not afford to pay to have it taken down so, I will try to kill it.
A perpendicular line to the ground between the trunks, reveals that the trees are about 30 degrees from perpendicular. So, about 60 degrees from the ground.
Both trunks originate together at the bottom just below the ground's surface. Each one has a large root extending away from the trunks. These roots are maybe 40% above ground. I can easily cut a "v" shaped wedge out of each, so that 40% of the nutrients from the roots is cut off.
How long should I expect it to take before this tree dies?
