Why does level of water not change when smal amount of common salt is dissolved in it​

“ When common salt is dissolved inwater , the NaCl compound gets Hydrated , and Breaks into ions of Na(+) , Cl(-) .” These ions fit in the spaces between the molecules of water . That is why we don't observe any change in the volume .
