Hi Bhavik,
due to refractive index of the medium.
refractive index=speed of light in vacuum/ speed of light in medium.

Answer:
Light changes its speed due to differences in density in both the medium .
For example :
When light enters from denser to rarer medium , light will collide with less particles and can travel faster as compared to before .
Thus the speed of light increases and hence it bends away from the normal .
The opposite occurs when light travels from rarer to denser medium.
Explanation:
Optical density of a medium with respect to speed of light in that medium .
More the optical density , less is the speed of light .
