Why does lithium forms no ethynide on reacting with ethyne?

Answer:

When alkali metals react with ethyne,they form ethynide compounds.it is also termed as acetylide . but LI metal does not form ethynide or acetylide with ethyne because of small size and high polarising power of LI.Jun 17, 2018
