Because meiosis creates cells that are destined to becomegametes (or reproductive cells), this reduction in chromosome number is critical — without it, the union of two gametes duringfertilization would result inoffspring with twice the normal number of chromosomes

27decuzmafaiz: Meiosis has two rounds of genetic separation and cellular division while mitosis only has one of each. In meiosis homologous chromosomes separate leading to daughter cells that are not genetically identical. In mitosis the daughter cells are identical to the parent as well as to each other.
chandnimastwalp24e7e: what???
chandnimastwalp24e7e: i said meiotic not miotosis
27decuzmafaiz: ohhh sorry
chandnimastwalp24e7e: hmmm
27decuzmafaiz: no there is no difference
chandnimastwalp24e7e: okk.. thanks
27decuzmafaiz: i hope u know that meiosi-meiotic & mitosis-mitotic
27decuzmafaiz: mah pleasure
chandnimastwalp24e7e: hmmm... thanks
