When fertilisation does not occur and embryo is not formed, the endometrium breaks down and bleeding occurs. This process is called menstruation. So, menstruation occur as a result of nonfertilisation of egg.

When there is no fertilization and emryo is not formed the uterus begins to contract slowly and then blood flows so that is menstruation .
