Why does minorities need safeguard?

akshaya2710: the majorities do not need safeguard as the democracy supports the majority . it is the language ,culture and heritage of the minority that need security or else they will be undermined under the language, culture and heritage of the majority.

Minorities need safeguard because they are not well with wealth and education also, so anyone with money can cheat them easily, even they can taken away the right of the minority easily, they won't equal opportunities like what other citizens of the country gets, for example they can contest in elections in their constituency and they can afford education by paying money so the government had made many laws for safeguarding the rights of minorities in order to help them from the different faces of the society,

A minority can be anybody. In India it is very common to divide people based on religious lines. Therefore, the Hindu's automatically become the majority and other religions the minority. In such circumstances it's the elected government's job to protect the minorities.
