Fold mountains are formed when two plates move together. This can be where two continental plates move towards each other or a continental and an oceanic plate. The movement of the two plates forces sedimentary rocks upwards into a series of folds. Mostly earthquakes occur in the belt of young-fold mountains becuse young fold mountains are formed because of tectonic activities. Since they have been formed in recent geological ages, due to tectonic disturbances, earthquakes mostly occur in the belt of young fold mountains.
