Why does most of the thermometers involve the use of Mercury used? Can we some other element in thermometer?
Answers
hey mate
actually the boiling point and melting point of Mercury help us to calculate the temperature and the reason why we only use mercury is that the the contraction and relaxation of Mercury during the change of heat is very uniform as we can say that on a certain temperature various metal relax at a very an uniform rate or with the dependence of other characteristics but in case of Mercury we don't have such cases as in Mercury the contraction and relaxation during the change of heat is uniform so we use this.
yeah we can use other metals too but it is very hard to find such metals and to use them on such large scale.
Explanation:
mercury is used in most of the temperature thermometer because it doesn't stick to the wall when rises up. It rises automatically when heat is provided to it . it is a metal.
