Why does Mumbai receive more rainfall than Pune?

Answer:

Both Mumbai and Puna largely receive their rain from the South-west monsoons arising from the Arabian sea. But because Mumbai lies on the windward side of the Western Ghats so it receives heavy rainfall but as Puna lies on the leeward side of the Western Ghats and comes under the rain shadow so it receives far less rainfall than Mumbai.
