mumbai recives rainfall in rainy season (near end of summer) because of the south western winds which bow towards north india from the equator brings moisture from the ocean and rains in india.(exept some places like tamil nadu, westbengal,etc.). which happens in 1 st week of june
after some time when the winds go back to the low pressure area(ocean), than there is also a low pressure area forming on the north indian region causes the wind from the bangladesh region go towards south which moves through the bay of bengal and move over tamil nadu to rech the south
so while moving it takes the moisture with it and rains in the tamil nadu.
since this wind come at winter. they are said to be retreating monsoon.
