⚡⚡NH3 form hydrogen bonding PH3 does not⚡⚡
There are two main reasons behind it..
⚡⚡ ELECTRONEGATIVITY:-
✓ as we move top to bottom in a group electronegativity decreases
Hence,
Nitrogen is more electronegative as compared to phosphorus.
So phosphorus cannot render positive charge on Hydrogen molecule bounded to it hence,
PH3 do not form hydrogen bonding.
✓ ATOMIC size of phosphorus is more then that of nitrogen so ..it is not as electronegative as that of nitrogen.

Answer:
Nitrogen is highly electronegative as compared to phosphorus. This causes a greater attraction of electrons towards nitrogen in NH 3 than towards phosphorus in PH 3. Hence, the extent of hydrogen bonding in PH 3 is very less as compared to NH 3.
