The white colour on wall is not due to the application of slaked lime, but it is acquired when the slaked lime reacts with the atmospheric carbon dioxide and forms calcium carbonate which is the white layer that is on wall.
slaked lime(CaO) + CO2. ----------> CaCO3,(calcium carbonate)

A wall does not immediately acquire a white colour when it is coated of slaked lime Ca(OH)2.
This is because slaked lime doesnot have carbon atoms to react.
After reacting to CO2, the walk turns to white.
It equation⤵
CO2 + Ca(OH)2 =》 CaCO3 + H2O.
▶White colour of lime water(white washing of wall) indicates that CO2 is present.
