Residual volume is volume of air that remains after maximal exhalation it means that even after forceful expiration there will be some amount of air left in lungs..

So lungs won't collapse even after forceful expiration..

Our lungs do not collapse when we expel air forcefully because our lungs do not ever full fill or empty of air compeletly. A small amount of air remains in the lungs no matter how hard you expel your air.
