because our heart pumps blood at the same pressure also known as blood pressure which cancels the atmospheric pressurethus ,we are not squashed

Explanation:

  • The high atmospheric pressure at sea level do not squash us because “the contents of our bodies” (blood, muscle, bone etc) are at the ‘same pressure’ as the “pressure of atmosphere”.
  • It is because our body has adapted to stand up to the pressure by using flow of blood.  This is due to the presence of the chest cavity within our bodies which keep the pressure outside and inside the same, and this is regulated by breathing.
  • Objects will not get squashed, if they are in equilibrium, in the force balance which pushing it down and also pushing up. The atmospheric pressure which acting on our body from outside is balanced by the pressure of blood acting from inside of the body.
  • That is why, we do not get squashed at sea level. For example: If the pressure outside is higher than inside, we breathe in, there by leveling the pressure (as air moves from high pressure to low pressure). And when its higher within our bodies, we breathe out.
