why does not wood change into liquid or gas even when it is matter

according to me wood is a matter but cannot be changed into liquid and gases because the temperature required for wood to change into liquid and gas is very high then its ignition paint so whenever it gets heated up it gets burnt up before changing its state thank you...

according to my knowledge wood do not changes into liquid or gas because it has properties of a solid matter and its inter molecular distance is less than the inter molecular distance of liquid or gas
