When you rub two things with each other, one of the substances loses electrons and the other one gains it. The substance that loses electrons becomes positively charged and the other one constitutes a negative charge. This property is known as Electron Affinity. This charging is known as Charging by Friction. For e.g. a glass rod gets charged when rubbed with a silk cloth.
